Sumac - San Francisco

Sumac serves up dishes packed with flavor! The fusion of tastes is excellent. However, the long wait times for pickup at this to-go spot within Gastrobot can be a test of your patience. Still, the culinary experience is worth it, especially considering the prices are a bit on the higher side.

Update: since they raised their prices, I can’t responsibly afford to eat here any more. I was always happy to pay a premium before, but paying an increase on top of the premium is hard to rationalize. I understand that food prices are increasing everywhere due to wholesale costs increasing, but it seems like the increase is not reasonable. It feels more like price gauging. This criticism isn’t specific just to Sumac, but for a lot of SF for that matter. What happened to places advertising reasonable prices? It seems like so many places now can just get away with price gauging

The Middle Eastern food here is pricey, but it's always cooked to perfection. As a vegetarian with some food sensitivities, I still find myself returning whenever I'm in the area, regardless of traffic or distance! The quality of the ingredients really shines through. I absolutely love it!

Man this place is as good as it's rubbery meatballs. It's not that bad, but my god the serving sizes make no sense. I finished all the meat and just had a giant bowl of chickpeas and rice left... it was so dry I couldn't finish it. The wrap was better but for $19 I've had better food at McDonald's.

This is a great takeout spot where you can enjoy healthy Mediterranean cuisine near Lombard Street. The creativity of the chefs is definitely worth experiencing.
