Max's Tacos Cheeseburgers - Placerville

I discovered this takeout restaurant from an article in The Sacramento Bee. Timmy's is somewhat hard to find, but definitely worth the effort. It's situated in a small complex on Main Street in Placerville, close to the courthouse. The menu is quite diverse. I tried the spicy prawn sandwich with a side of tater tots, and both were prepared fresh and served promptly. The sandwich was delicious without being too spicy. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive. While the prices were a bit on the high side, the quality made it worth every penny.

This quaint sandwich stand offers a truly distinctive range of options for both meat lovers and vegans. My husband and I tried the Vada Pav and found it so tasty that we could barely finish it! I highly recommend looking at their menu for detailed descriptions of all their sandwiches. We will certainly be returning for more. Their tater tots are fantastic too!

I opted for a distinctly unconventional banh mi, featuring lap cheong sausage, pickled daikon, jalapeño sweet chili sauce slaw, and a few other delightful ingredients, all served on a brioche bun. One of my friends chose the imaginative enchiladas suizas sandwich, which included pork, salsa verde, Swiss cheese, grilled tortilla pieces, and more on ciabatta. Another friend went for the chicken satay sandwich, complete with chicken satay, harissa cucumber slaw, sweet Thai chili sauce, and additional toppings on ciabatta. After placing our order, we received a buzzer to signal when our sandwiches were ready, which gave us the chance to stroll along Main Street for a bit. It took about 15 minutes for our sandwiches to be prepared, and they arrived neatly wrapped in foil and nestled in a brown bag. The sandwiches were generously sized and looked and smelled delicious; although they were a bit messy to eat, the flavors made it worth it. I can’t wait to return to Placerville for lunch and explore more of Timmy’s creative sandwich offerings!

With seven very different appetites we wondered if we would find a spot to satisfy everyone. This place nailed it. Everyone was quite happy with their food. The portions are large and the staff was super friendly.

I had a banh mi sandwich from there for the first time and oh my goodness it was AMAZING! I’ll definitely be back to try some of the other creative , delicious foods!
