La Dolce Vita - Oxnard

On a positive note, the ambiance is charming, although we were unexpectedly treated to a rather peculiar singer. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. The pasta and chicken were cooked well, but both dishes were lacking in flavor. I was surprised that they didn’t offer fresh parmesan, which is standard for Italian dining. The chicken piccata had almost no lemon flavor, and there was no fresh lemon on the side, which was disappointing. Overall, this place feels more like an American restaurant that tries to pass for Italian rather than an authentic Italian eatery. If you can handle the many stairs and don’t mind subpar service and bland food, this restaurant might suit you, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a true Italian dining experience.

We wanted to celebrate our anniversary quietly, so we chose La Dolce Vita. We've been here a few times before, and the location, set in a charming Victorian house, is truly unique. We've always enjoyed a wonderful meal here. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Everything was delicious!

I wish I could leave a positive review for La Dolce Vita, but unfortunately, I can't. Both my partner and my mother ordered the chicken marsala, and they found it necessary to add salt to their dishes because they were quite bland. My partner, who is a cook and frequently makes chicken marsala himself, mentioned that the texture of the chicken was as if it had been cooked a day prior. He also noted that there was no discernible taste of marsala wine in the dish. Additionally, the bread was dry. I loved the atmosphere and wished the food had lived up to it, but it just didn't meet our expectations.

Beautiful opposite in the historic side of oxnard, quiet and cozy with excellent customer service. would definitely recommend friends and will definitely come back!

Bar and restaurant are separate and inconsistent with restaurant. Artichoke appetizer was grilled and frozen in the middle. Portobello mushroom entree was just awful.
