Bidrage med feedbackIf you're looking for a place to grab a late-night bite, Boulders on Southern is the perfect choice. This bar has a lively atmosphere, featuring games, karaoke, sports, and trivia. We've tried several meals there and have never been let down. The burgers are cooked to perfection, the sweet potato tots are hot and crispy on the outside while remaining tender inside, and there are plenty of spicy options available. The calzones are packed with flavor, and the steak in the steak and walnut salad was cooked exactly to our liking. The service was attentive and friendly too.
I visited Boulders on Southern for the first time and quite possibly the last. It might have been that it wasn't the right restaurant for my cravings, or perhaps I wasn't very hungry, or maybe I just ordered the wrong dish. Regardless, I left feeling unimpressed. I tried the Papas Bravas, which I wouldn't recommend since they didn't stand out in any way—honestly, you could make them at home. On a positive note, our server was very friendly, and the restaurant was relatively quiet during my visit.
The restaurant is open until 2 AM, making it a great option for late-night arrivals in Mesa who are looking for a meal. It’s conveniently located near the hotel, and the food is quite good. The place was fairly crowded, with most patrons enjoying drinks and cocktails. Oh, and did I mention the karaoke? The singers were impressive, and there’s a karaoke DJ who keeps everything moving smoothly and even joins in on the fun. I’ve heard there are 20 beers on tap. The deluxe pizza, made with homemade dough, was packed with meat and vegetables, and the nachos were expertly crafted and delicious!
Karaoke is also available on Tuesdays, running from 9:00 PM to 11:55 PM. As for parking, it remains abundant. However, during busy times, you might need to park a bit further into the plaza to find a spot. Taco Tuesdays are still a hit, with tacos priced at $3 each, featuring the same flavors: pork, shrimp, fish, and beef. Just a note, they no longer come with a side of chips and salsa. The menu is extensive, offering something for everyone. Even though I frequent this place almost weekly, I still haven’t tried everything on the menu. They occasionally introduce new items, which is a nice touch for those who enjoy exploring new flavors. Keep in mind that this is a bar, so the food leans towards typical bar fare—often fried, carb-heavy, and served as finger foods. There are also some tasty salads available for those looking for a healthier option. Boulders has also started using the Union app for ordering, allowing you to pay through your phone or request the check from your server. This feature is quite handy; you can scan the QR code on the table or order ahead if you're on your way and have friends already seated. The service continues to impress—staff members are friendly and attentive. Overall, it remains a fantastic place to visit!
The service was quite lacking. It was a slow and quiet Saturday evening, with a big party having just left and only a few customers at the bar. As Kyle H. pointed out, the QR code for the menu requires you to download an app to access it. While there are paper menus available, our server took about five minutes to bring one to our table. He did manage to take our order but seemed confused when we mentioned that we had already ordered wings through the app and that he could input the rest of our order there. The Pineapple Express burger was enjoyable, but I was expecting grilled pineapple rings rather than pieces (perhaps I misread the menu?). Additionally, it seemed like there was no teriyaki sauce as stated, but it wasn't a major issue. My burger was cooked medium well as I requested, although some parts were a bit more charred than I would’ve liked.
