Bidrage med feedbackThe real disappointment, however, was the "Tamales." Taking my first bite brought back memories of camping and eating Hormel tamales from a can—I can get those for about $4.50 at Walmart, yet they charged around $16 for these. Their cocktails were also subpar and pricier than drinks at many local chains. For example, the Old Fashioned at Big Whisky was prepared better and cost less. In my opinion, if they could improve the quality of their sides and soups (I didn’t even mention the soup, which was just average), or significantly lower their prices, they would have a better offering. I recently had a $300 dinner at a restaurant in Branson, MO, that left me eager to return, whereas I’m not sure I’d rush back here. The steak is very good—just avoid the appetizers and stick to water or iced tea—and then it might deserve a four-star rating, albeit still on the pricey side. Service: Dine-in Price per person: $100+
**Meal Type:** Dinner **Price per Person:** $100+ **Food Rating:** 5/5 **Service Rating:** 5/5 **Atmosphere Rating:** 5/5 I highly recommend trying the Dozen Fried Shrimp, Broiled Shrimp, Tamales, Filet Mignon, or Bone-in Ribeye. The Fried Dinner served with sautéed mushrooms and green beans is also a must-try. Don't miss the Cherry Cheesecake for dessert! **Parking:** There's plenty of parking available, with a free parking lot for convenience.
The food is excellent but quite pricey. The ambiance is pleasant, though it often seems to lack customers. The salad and steak are absolutely divine, and there are plenty of leftovers to enjoy at home the next day.
Best Steak Ever! To my Texas friends who frequent places like Three Forks, Ruth's Chris, and Land and Cattle... my filet at Doe's may just be THE best steak I've ever had! The Iowa beef, aged for 21 days, was broiled to medium-rare perfection with a lovely crisp on top. It was a generous 2+ inches thick and 8 ounces for $36. Juicy and incredibly tender, it practically melted in my mouth. Don’t miss the mushrooms broiled in wine butter—they're a must-try! We arrived at 5:30 and were seated immediately, though it's wise to call ahead for reservations since the place tends to fill up quickly. The restaurant itself is set in an old German brewery, adding to the great atmosphere.
Better Than Greenville! This is exactly what I expect from Doe's, even though my benchmark is the original location in Greenville, MS. While I felt like we were dining in a wine cellar, I truly enjoyed the atmosphere of this Doe's. The steaks were excellent, though still on the pricey side, and I believe you can find a good steak at a lower price elsewhere. I appreciated that there was a choice of salad dressings, which isn't always the case at every Doe's. I can see how you could find a less expensive steak in the area, but I doubt you’d find a better one.
