Got there on time but felt peckish for a bite with hopefully just enough time for the show. We hurried across and asked the lovely waitress if there was ample time to make our selection. She was so confident that we decided to give it a go. And so it was! The food was scrumptious, service impeccable, amazing view of the wharf with its apartments and harbour and we just made it to the show. Couldn't have asked for more! Thank you and we'll definitely come back again.
Beautiful setting on the water at Walsh Bay, with great views to the bay and surrounding residences. We had an antipasto plate, with seafood and lots of other breads, meats and condiments. Great! Service was really friendly and quite quick.
This was our group's second time here for lunch before a 1 pm Ros Packer theatre performance. The restaurant is conveniently located just across the road from the theatre on the waterfront. The wait staff were friendly and welcoming although they seemed a little overwhelmed, however within seconds we had a jug of water and menus to peruse. Not long after ordering, we were informed that they had run out of skewers (only noon at this stage) so my friend ordered a different dish. The meals arrived with plenty of time for a leisurely lunch before the show. The quality and presentation of the mixed share mezze plate was excellent as was the seared scollops wrapped in prosciutto. I was unimpressed by the look of my friend's lamb burger, its only accompaniament being a heap of chips and a few shreds of greenery. The wine special at $5 a glass was very enjoyable until our bill revealed we had been charged $9 per glass, hopefully by mistake, however this was adjusted to the correct price when we challenged the bill.
Firstly I need to say that the efforts of the female waiter who tried to salvage our experience at this restaurant were appreciated. The other staff were woeful.Lunch today was a shocker. Lost order, half raw barramundi (taken back to the kitchen and returned cooked eventually), 68 minutes waiting for a dish of smoked salmon (2 pieces), king prawns (4 medium size) and green salad with citrus (plenty of mixed salad greens, pieces of woody tomato and cucumber drowning in oil and balsamic vinegar ... citrus noticeable absent). Some days lots of things will go wrong for a business but if the staff are genuinely trying to solve problems you can cut the place a bit of slack. However, with only one exception, the staff here didn't care. There are other places to have lunch.
We live locally and are always on the look-out for a good place to eat that caters to locals as well as tourists and theatre goers. We've been to Seawall several times and have never been quite able to make up our minds. The prices aren't cheap and the food/service aren't great, but never good or bad enough to swing us either way. Tonight we dropped in without a booking. It was busy when we arrived but soon cleared out as the theatre crowd left for their performances. Our waitress was very friendly, and our wine arrived quite quickly, but our food notsomuch. About half an hour after ordering, we were very hungry and I asked a waiter whether our food would be coming soon. He shrugged and said "soon" but didn't appear to be sufficiently moved to enquire in the kitchen. Another five minutes and nothing had happened and so we asked again and were told that the chicken one of us had ordered took 15 minutes. Since we had by now waited over twice that time, this felt like a bit of a brush off. We cancelled our order and went, instead, to Fratelli Fresh over the road where they rustled up something delicious within ten minutes. To be fair, we were not charged for our three glasses of wine at Seawall, and they had been middlingly ok on previous occasions, but never good or bad enough to decide us either way. Tonight we were swung and I doubt we'll be going back in a hurry.
