Bidrage med feedbackNo frills, mostly counter-service bakery chain throughout Switzerland offering very good pastries (including a fabulous rhubarb cheese danish that looks like a large piece of pizza), nice, friendly staff, who are happy to speak English if need be.
We loved the concept of a store selling day old bakery products, to minimise food wastage. Ass-Bar was easy to locate in the narrow streets of Zurich Old Town, we arrived mid-afternoon to discover half-filled cabinets of what appeared to be delicious tarts and slices, we purchased two to take-away, a custard almond tart and a raspberry vanilla slice. Both were disappointing, the pastry on the tart was soft, not particularly flavoursome, I would suggest that they were not as fresh as thought; baked several days ago. If ever I came across a Ass-Bar in the future I don't think I would visit.
With a name of a bar such as that, who would not want to go, even if it were only to get a WHIFF of what's inside! I was on my way to the Christmas park by the lake, when I stumbled upon a sign featuring some tasty pastries. Craving for some snacks, I went in and found a good variety of desserts, including hot and cold sandwiches, and a good variety of drinks. It was not until I began nibbling on my dessert that I realized what the name of the bar was!
Es ist ein großartiges Konzept, denn alle Backwaren, Sandwiches, Brot, Brötchen und vieles mehr von gestern (gesammelt von lokalen Bäckereien) werden zu ermäßigten Preisen an alle verkauft, die sie kaufen möchten. Auf diese Weise verhindern Käufer Lebensmittelverschwendung und können ihren Bauch zum halben Preis und manchmal sogar noch weniger füllen. Was in einer so teuren Stadt wie Zürich entscheidend ist. Ihr Sandwich oder eine Tarte können aufgewärmt werden, aber es gibt nicht viel Platz zum Essen. Es ist ein kleines Geschäft ohne Sitzecke. Du solltest dein Essen lieber mitnehmen gehen.
Mir gefällt das Konzept dieses Restaurants. Stop Foodwaste! Die Preise sind auch sehr gut. Ich kann die Würstchen im Teig oder die Desserts empfehlen.
