The First Post - York

We live west of York, but we discovered this restaurant through some reviews we read. We were thrilled that we decided to give it a try. The ambiance was lovely, with rich, medium-dark wood surfaces throughout. This place could easily become one of our go-to spots for special occasions. The menu had many options that caught our eye, but my wife and I opted to share a steak salad and a grilled crab and cheese sandwich. The portions were generous, even though we split the dishes. The steak was cooked to perfection as requested and the sandwich had a satisfying amount of flavorful crab. The server was attentive and provided great assistance throughout our dining experience.

We were seated promptly despite not having a reservation. The tuna appetizer was fantastic! The dinner was delicious and the service was attentive and friendly.

We dined at The First Post in York on June 8th. I had planned on ordering the cioppino, but it was too early in the day as it was only on the dinner menu that they switch to at 4 o'clock. Instead, I opted for the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. For the second course, we ordered the spicy honey salmon. I really enjoyed the grilled chicken Caesar salad with soft boiled eggs. The salad was fresh, crispy, and delicious. The honey salmon was also delightful. Overall, we would recommend dining at The First Post. The service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. I was reluctant to eat at this restaurant primarily because of what I saw as higher prices than I am normally accustomed to paying. However, this was clearly a good choice. The menu was large and varied, and the place was packed to the rafters with happy looking diners. There is a distinct possibility that I would go there again.

We came here as a family for a late lunch. The restaurant is laid out very nicely and there’s lots of room and comfort between tables. All the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was delicious. Had the best lobster roll of my life there. The salad served next to it on the plate was delicious and not just some decoration. We ordered several appetizers including the scotch eggs in addition to the entrées. Everything we ate was made with care to appearance and quality and taste. This is definitely a safe go to spot. They do get busy and an advance reservation is definitely recommended.
