New Orleans cuisine is the focus here. Lots of rice and bean dishes, po’ boys, and more. Serves, meat, vegetarian, gluten free, and vegan dishes and all are clearly marked. We called ahead and discovered several things could be adapted to be vegan. Waitstaff is super friendly and on Thursdays there is live music. A bigger wine and beer and cocktails list would make this place the bomb.
My husband and I each ordered a cup of black beans and rice. It comes with a choice of white bread or brown bread (both vegan). Then we also ordered (to share) an order of the fried okra and an order of the sweet potato fries. Since the portions are generous it made a delicious and filling lunch. And seriously, the black beans and rice were the best I’ve tasted outside of New Orleans. It was all delicious! Now all they need to add to the menu is a vegan dessert!
I grew up in New Orleans and now live in Washington, D.C. I discovered this restaurant in 2019 and had the chance to visit a few times before everything went downhill. I can't recommend this place enough. While I haven't tried everything on the menu, the dishes I have tasted are the real deal. I can't wait to return and indulge in more of their food. I just wish they were open next Tuesday for Mardi Gras!
The menu is quite unique (especially for someone from the North), but in a delightful way that we absolutely loved! The staff was fantastic and attentive, and the atmosphere was wonderful, featuring a clean, spacious area with ample seating. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something fresh and exciting!
