Tofino - Werden

We went with friends, having heard a lot. Much ado. It was alright. Waited a while, fries were lukewarm, it was underwhelming. Also a lecture about how they serve rare as the meat is so special. We aren t going back.

There isn't a real restaurant-atmosphere. We always order via phone and after 20 min. we can pick up the meal and enjoy the fantastic burgers at home.

We witnessed a scene of a very nervous bossy lady, who was probably in charge of running the place. When she arrived she started talking to the waitress in an inappropriate way pointing out mistakes of the staff from the previous shift which was neither nice to watch, nor necessarily nice to be listening to. Apart from that, burgers were delicious, but not a wow and we had to wait for them for quite long. The size of the little burger (120g) is rather small, so if you happen to be there, you better go for the 200 g option. Apparently, place is well known among young people and not overcrowded, but more less full most of the time, so I guess they have reached at least a part of their customers' target. They don't have beer glasses, although they serve beer. The place definitely has not earned my 2nd place among restaurants in Essen, they should try harder.

Open kitchen means that there's something to see, but also to hear and to smell. You wouldn't come here for a quiet dinner.Seating is rather crammed, but the friendly and pretty waitresses go out of their way to accomodate everyone - which can be very difficult as this place usually is packed.And that for a good reason: the food - burgers, salads, steaks and french fries - is excellent! The menu is short, but what they serve is prepared carefully, with interesting and tasty burger combinations, from Rucola to grilled vegetables and Gorgonzola. This place tries to serve mostly organic or regionally produced food and drink, which I highly appreciate.Definitely my favourite burger place ever.

Okay, so I've been visiting this place Sind 2013 and have seen them developing from that time on.Pro:- The burgers are always delicious and the possibility to choose between well-done and English makes them even better. Also choosing from 3 kinds of cheese (cheddar, Gouda or blue cheese) makes you burger how you want it. But don't get the impression that they have like a million burgers. They actually have just half a dozen different burger types. - The fries are also very great esp. In combination with the garlic mayo. - What I like is the waiting list they have and accepting no reservations.The place is cozy. Contra:The device got worse over the time unfortunately. Just really sometimes the waiters are nice, friendly and attentive.If the service would be constantly good they would get a 5 star rating. Overall, due to the excellent food we come here again and just have to sea with service :)
