Buergerhof - Weilburg

Located at the very center of this small town , on the mousel river , you can have a meal in an historic building

We found the food quality, atmosphere and ambience perfect when we decided to walk down one of the side alleys of Weilburg's historical mountain sector. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and despite coming just before they were shutting the kitchen they accommodated us and there was no sense of animosity, it genuine that they wanted our custom and to enjoy the great experience of German traditional cuisine. My father always says that you can often find the best restaurants off the main roads, this was a perfect case of finding a gem not on the main square. We ate goulash (wild boar) with dumplings and rot kraut, schnitzel with a zegeuner sauce (peppery) and lendchen cutlets with a brosti. Everything was so unbelievably delicious from the aroma, the texture, even down to the salad, everything was really prepared to perfection. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to visit this place, it really was one of the best meals we, as a family have had together in a long time.

Born in Vienna I live in Los Angeles since 1965, First time at he Buergerhof 1999. I asked for NONSMOKING. They told me to sit next to the entrance to get fresh air. The next time the right wing of the place was non smoking. The last time in 2013, only the back of the left wing was for smokers. The waiters called it " The Selchkammer " ( were you smoke ham or fish). Food was the best we had in Vienna. Watch for the seasonal menu, Asperagus month, Goose, Venison etc I'll be there again at the end of this month.

We had a lunch in a small group - Simple food, friendly hostess, great experience. Pork knuckle was very soft and tasty, goose dish very different but still great. Recommended.

Had lunch after tour of the castle. Good food just off main square. Three in out party and all enjoyed their food. Recommend the grillhaux if still on the menu.
