Great Gut Deli - Wanchese

The specials are fantastic, and the soups and sandwiches are delicious—simply scrumptious!

The best place for sandwiches and lunch in the OBX! Everyone here is incredibly friendly!

For lunch, I ordered a delicious bowl of red pepper and tomato soup, topped with a generous helping of shredded cheese. I also chose a Chef's Salad with Ranch Dressing. That turned out to be quite a lot of food, so I took half of the salad home for tomorrow’s lunch. While I was getting a table, I bumped into three acquaintances, which is one of the great aspects of Great Gut – it truly feels like a local haven. Despite it being a busy lunch, the staff managed everything seamlessly, and the relaxed atmosphere made it easy to go with the flow. It’s definitely the kind of place where you want to linger. My friend opted for a chicken wrap and thoroughly enjoyed it. We took our time eating and stayed a while, and by the time we left, the sun was shining! We can’t wait to return soon.

If you weren't aware that there's a deli in the building, you might easily overlook it, but it serves absolutely fantastic sandwiches. We don’t visit the area frequently, but whenever we do, this place is at the top of our list for lunch.

This is a cozy little local spot that somehow attracts tourists. The food was outstanding. I tried the Grilled Chicken Salad and the BBQ Sandwich, both of which were delicious. If you enjoy that hidden gem vibe, you’ll really appreciate this place. However, if you're just going to complain about its age or atmosphere, this isn’t the place for you. It embraces its authenticity and doesn't try to be something it's not. I would love to live nearby to explore more of the menu, but unfortunately, I had to leave.
