Cafe Evangeline - Ville Platte

A great place to eat! The food is always tasty and the drinks are interesting! I love the blackened redfish and the stuffed trout! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30

First time in Ville Platte and I felt fortunate that I was able to find the café Evangeline for lunch. The service was attentive and quick and the food was delicious. I had the grilled Brussel sprouts which is one of my favorites and their preparation was perhaps one of the most flavorful I’ve ever enjoyed. I guess my only pushback would be the portion size; a little on the smaller side which was fine since I had to drive back to New Orleans but if I were hungrier I might’ve needed to order another side. The prices reflect the premier status of Café Evangeline as one of the top food destinations in town so, I guess, if you’re looking for lots and lots of food this might not be the place for you.

The owner came over to check on my experience, and he was very friendly. We had a wonderful conversation, as if we were old friends. Everyone in the restaurant was so pleasant. I really wish it weren’t so far from my home; otherwise, it would definitely be my go-to spot or the perfect place to impress friends. It’s definitely on my list of places to revisit, and I’ll do my best to return the next time I’m in town. Give this place a try—it’s truly a winner!

Parking can be a bit challenging, but the food is excellent. The server was very attentive. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. The restaurant is located in a beautifully maintained old bank building.
