Wahlburgers - Urbandale

We waited over half an hour without anyone checking on us or asking if we needed anything, despite seeing multiple staff members nearby. I eventually had to ask whether I needed to get my own to-go box. The young guy who brought it was nice, but by then the experience was pretty disappointing. We were the only customers there, so I expected better service. Come on, Hy-Vee, you can do better than this!

Absolutely incredible burger! I really should have taken a picture before I dug in, but oh well—you get the idea.

What really tipped the scales for me was the extended wait for our meal (just a burger, salad, and two kids' meals) which left my burger lukewarm when it finally arrived. I only ate it because I was really hungry and didn't want to wait for a fresh one. To be honest, I've never been a fan of Wahlburgers; I find the food rather unexciting and not worth the price. I miss the old Hy-Vee Market Grilles that were replaced by Wahlburgers and hope they return someday. Until then, I won't be coming back. Sorry, not sorry.

The setup at this restaurant is quite confusing. Upon entering, there is no one to greet you. A bartender instructs you to step outside the restaurant to place and pay for your order before returning to find your own seat. I paid $11 for a very bland burger that had no seasoning—no salt or pepper at all! I was expecting some flavor, but there was none to be found. You'd be better off spending your money at a local burger joint that takes pride in its food. This place really misses the mark when it comes to creating a family-friendly atmosphere. It doesn't feel welcoming at all; it’s more like an inexpensive fast-food joint that would rather not have you there. We will not be returning to any Wahlburgers location again. It’s just a typical example of big-name recognition with lackluster food and service—all hype, no substance.

I visited this restaurant again and once more found that there was no one available to assist us and no clear communication regarding what was happening. It's disappointing because the food is generally quite good. This time, I brought my brother who was visiting from Georgia, and the waitress (an older lady with white hair) seemed uninterested in doing her job. She informed us that she couldn't make shakes and that we would have to wait for the bartender to return. After waiting for 10 minutes with no sign of him, we decided to leave.
