Bidrage med feedbackNice ambience here with a mostly family crew working on the night. There's a sophisticated vibe in the food and as veg/vegans we found some yummy options that worked for us. Dessert was awesome with the choc tart & rhubarb praline. Tasty hibiscus & rooibos tea too. Big thumbs up & hope to see this place rank higher as it deserves to!
It took us a year to finally get here, despite the fact we are usually keen to try out new restaurants. Now that we've been once, we'll definitely be back fairly regularly. The food is similar to the kind of thing we would be happy eating at a hatted Brisbane restaurant, or would fly to Sydney to try out. Very modern, playful, inventive. Almost all hits, with only one miss, more to do with my tastes than the chef....choko and cucumber were never going to win me over! We had the seven course tasting menu, and it was definitely enough to satisfy without leaving stuffed. At $89, it represents great value compared to food we've eaten elsewhere, but obviously isn't for a casual meal. The wine list was short but adequate, with representation from most grape varieties and areas. It would be nice to see some more premium wines make their way on to the list as time goes by, for the extra special occasion. The cocktails also looked as inventive as the food, although we didn't try any this time.Whilst the food is without a doubt fine dining, the environment is more casual, although not uncomfortable. The waitress was very friendly, knew her stuff, and was attentive. The open kitchen lets you see the food being prepared, although isn't noisy and in your face like some can be.Timing was our only small quibble. We were there for a Friday lunch, and the seven courses stretched to almost three hours, and that was with us asking for the final two courses to come out ASAP as we needed to do the school run. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but the meals were quite slow. We enjoyed the relax we had there this time, but it is probably a little too slow for our liking for regular. I imagine things could move quicker on request, although perhaps not if all tables were full. All in all, this is a spectacular addition to Toowoomba's dining scene. Definitely the only restaurant that approaches true innovative cuisine. With a menu that apparently changes a few times a year, it will keep us happy for a long time to come.
I grew up in Toowoomba and have travelled the World extensively since. Zevs Bistro is easily a world class dining experience. Proud to see such quality in my old home town. Treat yourself soon.
Absolutely delighted with this experience, went for a casual after movies meal, and enjoyed best meal to date this year. Service was exceptional (which is rare for Toowoomba) - perfect mix of casual attitude and knowledge of product, with attention to ensuring our every need was satisfied. Highlights were the octopus, pastrami beef, pork loin, beetroot dish and the rhubarb dessert. Great to see an innovative sharing menu, will be back ASAP.
Delicious! We had steak, everyone's was cooked to order and tasted amazing. Be prepared for an adventurous menu, don't come if you want pub food.. It's casual fine dining at its best. Attentive staff and a fun vibrant atmosphere. Well done zev's.
