Bidrage med feedbackThe food is awesome and the place is great. I totally recommend it. Go with your kids or by yourself, people are nice and will make you feel at home.
Sabor Rural is the best reason to visit Tiradentes. The food is outstanding. The pork crackling they do as a starter - 'Torresmo' - is to die for.Homemade cachaça - and caipirinha, stunning. The setting is authentically rural, being placed on a former farm just outside town. The owner is a gentleman. He approached us and welcomed us, ensuring we had everything we wished for. Between my broken Portuguese and his patience and charm, he communicated that he had started the restaurant after growing up on the farm run by his father. Now he only grows food to supply the restaurant. There is a huge children's play area, which the owner built himself. When people think of Brazil they think of the Copacabana, the Amazon, samba and the beaches of Salvador de Bahia. But having visited Minas Gerais for the first time, and sampled its famous cuisine, I am an advocate of the state. And nowhere did I enjoy this more than at Sabor Rural. It is rustic, family friendly, and above all, the food is outstanding. Now when I think of Brazil, I think of the idyllic setting, the traditional food, and the homemade cachaça at Sabor Rural.I would go back to Minas Gerais just to have another plate of 'Torresmo' at this restaurant.
This is one of the most wonderful local places to eat very close to Tiradentes, the historical city. It is beautiful, in the woods, food is outstanding, and the "chaleira de limonada" - a special "caipirinha" - could not be better. Service is great! And home made cachaça is marvellous. If you are looking for a place where you can bring your children, go for it - there are lots of oudoors amusements. If you are looking for a romantic place, go for it - out of peak hours and mainly during week days. It is a 15 minute drive from Tiradentes, and any taxi will drive there.
The appetisers, tempting morsels of well marinaded spare rib, herby sausages, juicy bites of beef with corn fries, French fries, nibbles of tomato and maybe a couple of shakes of hot hot sauce, were so delicious, I ate too many, and almost couldn't do the main courses justice. The beer came in big bottles in an ice filled tin bath, and ended a in small glasses, keeping us cool and happy. There was also a local drink that came a deliciously set slush, poured from kettles, that had a nice little kick to it, and kept the conversation lively. We were a large party, and we were given a wide selection from the menu. As you'd expect on a farm, the dishes were meat orientated, but there was plenty of balance, with good rice, excellent beans, and a good selection of nicely cooked vegetables. For a change, the vegetarians had a very decent choice! It's the surroundings and the atmosphere that really makes Sabor Rural. Huge banana leaves helped to shade us from the sun, birds flew in and out of the open-sided barn in which were gathered, and other people's children spent all afternoon happily occupied in the easily visible adventure playground nearby. The owner allowed the afternoon to drift into evening before we reluctantly climbed back into our taxis, and drove back to Tiradentes. A memorable afternoon is a great location.
Traditional food, nothing special that you cannot find on any city in the state. It's far from the city, and the road is not paved.
