The Monkey Tree Bar and Restaurant

Saturday lunch with the girls. I asked the young lady behind the bar if they were serving lunch yet and what the $10 special advertised outside was. She wasn't sure so the young man told me. We weren't handed menus but had to collect our own from the bar. They were on a small clipboard and some were really in need of new pages (dirty and missing some pages). We sat out under the magnificent tree which is the main attraction. One of the chairs broke, so I pushed it out of the way and left the screw on the seat. We went back down to the bar to order and were directed towards the cutlery. This should be delivered before or with the meal. The food was very reasonably priced and quickly delivered. There was no lemon slice or tartare sauce with the battered fish I ordered. It was pleasant enough, probably too much batter for my liking. The others enjoyed their schnitzels. Up I had to get again to go back down to the bar for salt and pepper shakers. Sadly, I was underwhelmed. What could have been a wonderful experience, was a bit lacklustre.

After spending time at local attractions we stopped for lunch at The Monkey Tree. What a great place to eat. An extensive menu should allow everyone to find something to enjoy. The kids meal was quite large so would suit older kids. I had the eggs Benedict with bacon which was excellent. The locally brewed beer was also worth a try. Recommend this restaurant.

8.15am and freezing and Marcus was setting up tables outside. I asked if he was open .... no one else was. This delightful young man welcomed me in and started to prepare the coffee machine for me. First class, pleasant service. The coffee was also great. Thank you for your great service Marcus.

This place had been around for quite a while on Boundary Rd, while others, come and go, this one has been a rock.

Went for dinner one evening and the menu was a bit limited for a vegetarian so I just had potato waffles with a dip. I don't like sour cream but was told that it came with sour cream and sweet chilli, assuming that they would come separate they actually came mixed together. The staff were very good and got me a sweet chilli on its own. My husband enjoyed his meal but it was all very ordinary. The service and friendliness is excellent.
