Brown Sugar Cafe - Taihape

We recently enjoyed two fantastic lunches at the Brown Sugar Cafe. They offer gluten-free and dairy-free options on their menu. Yesterday, I accidentally left my bag behind. When we called, the staff had already set it aside for safekeeping. They were incredibly helpful in suggesting the best way to return it to me. Thank you!

During our road trip to and from Wellington, we stopped for lunch twice at this restaurant. The service was excellent, and the food was very enjoyable. It's a lovely place to recharge and relax. Thank you, everyone, for the great experience—keep up the fantastic work!

This is a fantastic stop when traveling south in the late afternoon, as they stay open until 5 PM and offer a nice variety of food. The charming courtyard is perfect for sunny days, but there's also ample seating indoors and convenient parking right by the entrance. The food is delightful, the tea is excellent, and the staff are exceptionally friendly.

Stopped in on our way down to Wellington and so glad we did! Their coffee was the best we have had in NZ and their freshly baked sausage rolls with chutney were divine. The team were also super lovely and welcoming.

Hidden cafe in small town on the way from wellington to Taupo. Highly recommend visiting this cafe as the environment was relaxing, garden at the outside, get bit of stretch and have small bites to grab. They don’t have many options but cakes and sandwiches
