Thai Siam - Sugar Land

I've been visiting this restaurant with my family since it first opened, although I'm not a regular customer. I know the location and menu well enough to have certain expectations. Recently, I dined there with my boyfriend's family as a group of three for dinner. While the food was enjoyable, I was surprised to see an 18% gratuity added to our bill without any prior notice. It’s not that we wouldn’t have tipped that amount ourselves, but as someone who has worked as a server and bartender, I find this practice quite unethical. In my experience, if I had done something similar at my job, I would likely have been fired. The food was good, but this questionable approach to tipping has left a bad taste, and my family is reluctant to return.

I absolutely love their Shrimp Pad Thai, but the shrimp can sometimes be overcooked. Today, the shrimp were noticeably smaller than usual, and they were brown and had a crusty texture. Unfortunately, they tasted tough, almost like leather. If you're not a fan of overcooked shrimp, be sure to request that they be prepared tender instead of chewy, and you’ll likely enjoy a fantastic dish.

One of the toughest challenges when visiting a favorite restaurant is resisting the urge to order the standout dishes that impressed you on your first visit, all while trying to make a healthier choice without going fully vegan. I must say, this place never disappoints! You could even close your eyes, pick any dish at random, and it’s sure to amaze your taste buds in one way or another.

I ordered pad thai Bangkok and with chicken and shrimp they completely skimped on the shrimp (only 1 on whole plate) and I love shrimp, I also had repeatedly ask the waiter for utensils to eat the food, soup was amazingly flavorful and delicious, also they automatically include 18% tip in the bill . Lovely ambience, very clean, friendly staff, quick service had food within 10 mins, they were very busy and close to closing time for the afternoon. ALL halal thai food.

Decent strip mall Thai. Not authentic tasting but edible. Decent lunch special.
