Sid's Caribbean Grill - St. Petersburg

The best food I’ve experienced since moving back to St. Pete five years ago! If you’re looking for a place that hasn’t been watered down or gentrified for people who consider onions spicy, you definitely need to check this out. The ambiance is fitting for the price range; we got two hearty meals that could easily satisfy me twice and four drinks for only about $40. Personally, I’d choose this over any trendy spot with fancy decor. Thanks, Sid, for reminding me that there are still vibrant places to discover in this area, especially in the hidden gems!

I went to Sid’s not too long ago because I was craving some beef patty. That gets a 4 outta 5 rating. The pattys are top notch. The crust is real good and the meat is perfect but there’s not enough meat in patty! Today I got the jerk chicken and oxtail. IT CAME WITH FESTIVAL! It’s been sooo long since I’ve been back home to the island and the taste took me right back. Everything was great. The oxtail and the chicken and the rice and peas with the plantins and vegetables. If you want some real good Caribbean food, you won’t find much better in the area than Sid’s!

The flavor is excellent, but both the jerk chicken sandwich and the brown stew chicken were loaded with small bones, which made eating them quite awkward and, honestly, unpleasant. I’m not referring to large bones, but rather thin bones that can pose a choking hazard.

You absolutely have to go! These are the BEST OXTAILS I've ever tasted, and I know my way around the kitchen! Lol. The service was excellent, and the island cuisine is top-notch! Be sure to try the mango/passion fruit juice as well! Oh my, my stomach was so happy! I felt like a true island girl!
