The Mud House - St Louis

This is hands down the best breakfast I have had in a while. I pride myself on being a expert in all things pizza, donut, and breakfast, so I have high standards when it comes to food. But this meal completely blew me away. I ordered the French toast with blueberry compote and honey whipped marscapone, bacon, and over medium fried eggs, and every single bite was just perfect.

The waffle was too expensive for what it was, and the eggs were undercooked. The coffee was weak, and the seating was cramped. The restaurant does have a charming atmosphere and I enjoy their table markers, but overall it was disappointing.

The food was really good and the vibe was pretty chill. The food came out relatively quick and it really tasted amazing. I got the American breakfast and the potatoes and eggs tasted excellent. I will say, I got a matcha tea chilled, and I didn’t really like the taste of it, and the tea didn’t mix well with the milk so it was very chalky tasting. It wasn’t unbearable, but I wouldn’t order that drink that way again. Nothing to do with restaurant quality though, I just didn’t like the taste of the drink the way I got it. The pic of the tea is when I first got it, and it wasn’t that bad, but when I didn’t drink it so fast, the tea and the milk separated.

Recently, I have been really into eating vegetables and eggs. When I went to the restaurant, I didn't see anything like that on the menu. However, I asked if they could add some vegetables to the spinach and mushroom hash dish. I was expecting a standard breakfast with eggs, but what I received was absolutely delicious! It had been a while since I had such a flavorful breakfast. I am grateful that the owner of the Airbnb I was staying at suggested I try the Mud House for breakfast. It was my first time in St. Louis and the food was amazing!

We had a wonderful dining experience at a great restaurant during our visit to St. Louis. The food was full of flavor, the coffee was delicious, and the pastries were a must-try. Although it was a bit pricey, we felt it was worth it. However, we were disappointed when we returned a second time and ordered the same dish, only to find noticeable differences from our previous visit. Despite the changes, the dish still tasted great. When we inquired about the inconsistencies, we were told there had been a change in management. This was surprising, especially considering the high prices and minimal cost of items like toast and jam. Additionally, we encountered a disagreement with a staff member over a missing pastry that was never served and were incorrectly told that we had not paid for it.
