Alter Brewing Kitchen - St. Charles

I visited this restaurant for the first time and I will definitely return. The space is spacious and exceptionally clean. The layout is well designed, allowing for a comfortable atmosphere where you don’t feel cramped, yet it still feels inviting. Our group of five arrived at different times, but our server was friendly and attentive, checking on us the right amount without being intrusive. Our food and drinks arrived promptly. We started with the 1/2 lb pretzel, which I highly recommend. Everyone enjoyed their meals, but the standout dishes were the bang bang cauliflower and the shrimp tacos! If you find yourself in St. Charles, I highly recommend stopping by this place. Also, my husband mentioned that the beer is quite good too!

Alter Brewing is a staple restaurant in St. Charles. The guy experience is great, a beautiful downtown area with options for seating outdoors along the river or seating inside. The staff is very friendly. Alter Brewing is a popular restaurant so I encourage you to give the staff grace as it can get very busy but the staff handle it incredibly. Another highlight about the Alter Brewing experience is the food selections I would say burgers are their specialty but they have a lot of other options to select from and the house chips are amazing. The drinks are great as well if not a huge beer drinker but I've found a few that are enjoyable and they have a few ciders and cocktails for non beer drinkers. Overall a great restaurant experience for a casual night. Due to popularity, I recommend making a reservation in advance and the expecting a little bit of a wait it's worth it!

The last call is before 10:49, even though they close at midnight! That's not acceptable. Service rating: 1.

I requested a paper menu, and the server rolled her eyes at me. She then dropped it on the table and walked away. I appreciate the inconvenience, but I won't be returning.

I visited this restaurant recently to enjoy the pleasant weather with a nice beer and a snack by the river. The service was excellent; our waitress was friendly and helpful with our choices. However, my main concern with this place is the pricing. Appetizers and flatbreads start at $16, and burgers begin at $18, which I find quite expensive. The beer is decent, but I know of some better breweries nearby.
