Bidrage med feedbackOriginally, I had given this restaurant a three-star review. We were excited about the opening and had high hopes, but it unfortunately didn’t meet our expectations. I visited during the second or third day of business, and we were never welcomed or asked for feedback by any staff member, including management or family owners. This felt particularly strange for a new family-run establishment. My main issue is with the name of the restaurant: Spring Grove Pub and PIZZA. Yet, the actual pizza options are minimal, taking up a small section of the menu. They offer only one type of crust—no thin crust, Chicago style, double dough, or pan options—just their unique version of pizza. I prefer a thin, crispy crust, so I was curious when our server explained it’s based on a 50-year-old family recipe and that they serve only this type of pizza across their other locations in Indiana. Given the emphasis on “pizza” in the name, I expected something exceptional. We ordered a 16-inch pizza, half cheese and half pepperoni, along with a $7 garlic dough nuggets basket. When the appetizer arrived, I was shocked at the small portion for the price. While it tasted good, the value seemed off. When the pizza arrived, it looked appetizing, but we had to rearrange our table since they don’t use pizza stands. The crust was so soggy that it drooped when picked up, making it impossible to eat with our hands. We resorted to using knives and forks, which was a messy experience. Despite the sogginess, there was an overwhelming amount of cheese, making it hard to taste the crust at all. I asked our server if they would consider adding more options in the future, mentioning my preference for a crispier crust and pointed out the mess we were experiencing. She kindly offered to make us a second pizza at no charge, this time cooked well done. Although I usually don't order my pizza this way, I accepted in hopes of a better experience. The second pizza had a firmer crust but still remained droopy. We took it to a friend's house, and the consensus was that with so many other pizza options nearby, we wouldn’t choose this one again. Our server did a great job and earned an extra star for her service, but I was surprised that neither a manager nor an owner checked in with us after comping a pizza, especially since the restaurant was not busy that night. I genuinely appreciated the interior improvements made, and I intend to return to try other menu items. However, there’s nothing particularly unique about the menu—it’s quite similar to offerings at places like Tammy's or Bricks and Ivy. I was really hoping their pizza would set them apart, but unfortunately, that was not the case.
8/15/2018: We took our son and his wife, who brought along their one-year-old. This place is excellent for families and groups alike. The pizza and mozzarella sticks were very good, and the service was outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised!
I just had dinner and was extremely pleased with both the food and the service. The mozzarella sticks were super cheesy, and the pizza featured three different types of cheese—amazing! I really love all that cheese. Steve, the owner, was very friendly. I will definitely be returning!
Placed an order for pick up and had great customer service from Jessica. The food arrived hot and yummy. Will definitely order again. :
Better than expected! We went in thinking we needed to extend some grace since they were newly opened this week, but wasn’t necessary. Our waitress Lizzy had a great personality and provided great service! I ordered the lasagna and I will definitely order it again—very good! I didn’t think I was much for calzones, but they converted me! One bite of my husbands calzone (and they’re plenty for two people to share) turned into two slices. Very happy to have another good restaurant in the area!!! Welcome!!!
