Old Mill Pub - Skowhegan

I visited this restaurant for the first time in over three years, and I can confidently say it will be my last visit. The fish was as tender as the bread, which was even more soggy. Before I even had a chance to taste the fish, I picked up the bread and was disappointed. The fish didn’t taste like fish at all, and as for the fries it was served on, they were also soggy and all I could taste was oil. The spinach dip, however, was good, and I ended up eating that instead of my main meal.

Since the new management took over, the dining experience, service, and atmosphere have all improved tremendously. The new owners have a background in local food and beverage businesses, and the waitstaff is exceptionally attentive. The owners are a local family, and the general manager, Eric, a veteran, takes great pride in the restaurant and its customer service. It's a family-run business, as many of the employees are related. The chef, Ben, and his partner, Eric, also assist as waitstaff. The live music is fantastic, featuring local bands, and the deck overlooking the river offers the best view in central Maine. Dining at the Old Mill Pub means you are also supporting many local businesses, a local family, and a vibrant community.

The hostess was quite serious, and I had to wait 20 minutes to be seated on the deck but did not get the chance to meet anyone. After a lengthy wait among locals, I was informed that I could only dine on the second floor in the sweltering heat of 80 degrees. This establishment does not seem accommodating for guests and tourists visiting the city.

The old mill pub is under new management and we hope that they would try again because we were aware of the problems in food quality, wait staff and timely meal delivery. we worked with the waiting staff and the kitchen to improve all these problems. we feel that their next experience will show a remarkable improvement! I hope to see her there!

1) I entered the building expecting to see a hostess come over and ask me how many in my party (6) and after a long 10 minutes she finally stopped and asked me. Meanwhile the rest of my party had come inside.
