Lcd La Côte D'or Café - Shirlington

I have wanted to try LCD for quite a while and sorry I waited. The service was very attentive and food was fabulous. The menu is extensive and look forward to returning to try different items, especially appreciate the extensive vegetarian and vegan options. The menu is mostly different prix fix options and ala carte is available but a bit confusing. The portions are very generous.

One of my guests was thrilled to have the soft shell crabs. I was delighted with the grouper. The service is always top notch the wine came quickly, we were each offered a taste before he poured it. Even when the place is full, which it was, we were treated like special friends. Love this restaurant.

Excellent quality and quantity of food. 3 of us in the group and we made a rookie mistake of 2 of us ordering the same appetizer so we didn't get 3 samplings. The brie, ordered by 2 of us, was excellent and had a mango chutney mixed with it. It was served in a ramekin with homemade crackers. The Caesar Salad ordered by the other person was one of the best we ever had. They steak (2 cuts ordered) was cooked perfectly as was the fish. The desserts were excellent the chocolate mousse and apple tarts were perfect. The banana flambe want exceptional but was good. There are multiple menu options for a fixed price meal with 3 courses. There are different tiers with options for each tier. Parking was a bit tight but not too much of a challenge.

Wonderful first experience here. All dishes Bavette steak, trout, beet salad, even the green beans were very tasty and perfectly cooked. Service was welcoming and professional, if a bit slow. We will return!

The food was overall disappointing at this smallish, cozy restaurant that came with good reviews and high expectations.The French onion soup and the roasted Belgium Endive with bacon and balsamic sauce were the only dishes I would recommend. Although the accompanying Frites were well made, the medium rare Bavette steak was tough, and the black peppercorn sauce was just too salty. The Chicken Corden Bleu was equally dry and similarly too salty. I was really looking forward to trying the Apple Tart but unfortunately it was not available. How is such a highly touted dessert in all the reviews not available?Service was quite good and responsive, but the hard-to-find street parking makes it a tough restaurant destination for those who have to drive to get there.
