Chuy's - San Marcos

The food was exceptionally good. The bartender took care of us. Wait wasn't too long. Only that our waiter had too many tables. He couldn't take care of us. We only saw him three times. When we first saw him, he took our drink order. For the second time he took over our food order and for the third time he gave us our controls. There was no time we saw him in between.

I'm usually not the guy to complain, but that was ridiculous. I went to an early dinner with my friend there at 4:00 and it was pretty much dead in it. It took 10 minutes until we were greeted. The server then took our beverage order and food order and delivered the chips and salsa. Another 15 minutes pass and we don't have our drinks yet as we eat the spicy salsa. After all, our food comes out, followed by our drinks. Service was mediocre as it makes sense to give customers their drinks before their meal. The service is usually not so bad, but that was terrible. Very disappointed with my experience here.

It takes a while to get Chuy from COVID. This week the service was moderate for the last year and the food was simply perfect. With limited texmex options in San Marcos we have continued to try for variety only. I'm glad to say that this week proved the exception. Service was fantastic and the food was hot and delicious. The drinks were also fast and strong. The only thing that could make the experience better would be the return of the classic menu and the red table sauce. Keep the good work Chuys!

Love, love, love the Chuychanga, with creamy jalapeño sauce, queso and sour cream. I stop to get one to go 2-3 times a month! 15 minutes max. from arrival to departure...no foot, no shell! Food: 5/5

Last time ever going. I used to love their nachos and they literally got skimpy on the beans. I ordered to go and sadly noticed when it was too late that there was little to no beans on each nacho. I also ordered a $15 margarita that I question if it even had alcohol in it. Not worth it any longer. Sad it’s become this way..
