Hunger Shack - Salida

Do not bother. Our experience was horrible. They claim they have BBQ, but the ribs are not smoked or even grilled. They are either baked or boiled. No seasoning, no sauce. Dry and greasy at the same time. Definitely the worst ribs I've ever eaten. Worse than that was my wife's Chili Lime Tilapia sandwich. It was burnt on the outside and cold and raw in the middle. When I took it back to the counter, they microwaved it. It was still raw in the middle. In the short time we were there, we were not the only ones to return an item. This place is garbage.

I love this place, but whenever I look online, it says open, then I drive up here from out of town to find out it's actually closed. Makes me super sad ... I made an edit because I gave 4 stars by accident. It's for sure 5 stars for food, just the schedule thing can be a pain Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Been driving past this place for years and finally found a good opportunity to stop—glad we did! The food was great—amazing pulled pork! The people there provided excellent service and were very nice. There was a perfect variety of indoor and outdoor seating options to make it a comfortable place to eat year-round. We (my mother and I) we're on a trip up to Gunnison, and pulled off to grab a bite to eat. Everyone working was incredibly nice, and the food was so insanely good, we had to stop again on our way back down the very next day! Definition of an incredible, local, hole-in-the-wall eating place, and deserves every one of the 5 stars! The pulled pork alone could be worth the drive to get here.
