Sunnie's Java Beach Cafe - S San Diego

Disappointing. We visited this restaurant for tacos based on all the positive reviews and ended up ordering the beef tacos since the fish tacos weren’t available. Unfortunately, what we received was mediocre at best. The meat was a bit overcooked, the corn tortillas were too dry, and both the beans and rice lacked flavor. The service was chaotic, with numerous menu items unavailable and the card reader malfunctioning. There are only a few uncomfortable tables to sit at, so I recommend opting for takeout. This was one of the most disappointing Mexican meals we've had in San Diego in years. I hope it was just a one-time occurrence.

The service was excellent, and the owner was very kind and accommodating with my request to have a special order burrito served as a bowl, even though it wasn’t allowed. My only complaint is that the food was a bit bland for my taste. It happens, but I'll definitely give another dish a try next time and hope for more flavor.

One of the best spots for burritos in San Diego! The Agua de Jamaica is excellent too.
