Tokyo - Providence

I've been to Tokyo many times over the years. Their pricing is reasonable, if not low, for the area, but they have often messed up my order. I normally get take out because the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. This past Friday I decided to bring my kids and dine in. We got a couple of appetizers and ordered sushi as well. Our appetizers came out.....but our dinners never did. I am not at all confrontational, but after waiting over an hour and a half I finally got up and asked where our meals were. The lady at the front printed my receipt and said "this is what we have for you." On that receipt were our appetizers and nothing more. They dug through their pile of slips and found my order, clearly noting there were many other items that we never got. I'd like to mention that it was completely dead int the restaurant - there were only two other tables seated while we were there. Our waiter never came and checked on us, or I would've had the opportunity to ask about our meals. She offered to make our meals, but at this point I didn't want to spend another penny in her restaurant. I paid for my appetizers and took my children elsewhere. It's completely unacceptable to me that our waiter never checked on us, and our meals were never made. I will never go back.

Tokyo used to be a regular option for dining out, but like Sakura, the service was inconsistent. Our last visit was disappointing. We recommended Tokyo to some friends because the sushi is high quality for the price and there is a wide variety to choose from. My girlfriend and I ordered the sushi dinner for two, which was quite expensive. Normally, I am a very easy-going customer, but on this occasion, our experience was not great. We brought two bottles of wine and a six-pack, as the restaurant is BYOB. It took five attempts to get water and glasses for the wine, which took over 30 minutes. Our meal also came with soup, which we had to ask the server multiple times for because we were not aware of the procedure.
