Fireside Caterer - Plainview

I ordered a hot roasted turkey for this Thanksgiving. I ordered one between 14-16 pounds and paid $108.00 for it . When I got it home and looked at it, it seemed quite small. I then weighed it on a food scale, in its aluminum pan wrapped with three layers of aluminum foil. The whole thing, with pan and wrappings weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. I was very upset and called Fireside. I was directed to the Manager who said that it loses weight during cooking. No turkey loses 50% of its weight during cooking. She offered no solution or compensation or apology for this. I am no fool. I have cooked turkey before and it never lost 50% of its raw weight during cooking. I then decided to call back to speak to the owner. Of course, there was no owner there on site. So I am stuck with a turkey weighing less than 8 lbs. after paying for one that should weigh at least 10-12 lbs. after cooking. I feel that I was scammed by Fireside.

This restaurant offers a variety of hot and cold dishes, including chopped salads and sandwiches. It's a fantastic spot for lunch with consistently friendly staff.

I have been coming to this restaurant for thirty years and have noticed a significant decrease in the size of their famous sandwiches. What used to be a large portion is now considered inadequate. This change in portion size was unexpected and informative. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has also declined since the original owners left. The flavors are not as good as they used to be. It seems like they need to work on bringing back the charm and taste that was once a highlight of their menu.

Can't remember the name of the sandwich I got but it had chicken cutlets with cheese tomatoes and Russian dressing and it was very good. I'll be paying them a visit tomorrow and the food is very reasonable and you get a lot.
