Sunrise Piet Retief

This delightful little restaurant, hidden behind the Sundowner Lodge, boasts a small farm with cute animals and a variety of eclectic decorations throughout. The atmosphere is truly warm and inviting. I decided to try the pie and was happily surprised by the generous serving size. The beef was incredibly tender and full of flavor, and the pie crust was wonderfully crispy. My boyfriend chose the breakfast croissant, which was both tasty and cheesy. It's definitely a fantastic spot for a quick breakfast if you're traveling through Piet Retief.

I was quite disappointed with my visit to the restaurant. I ordered a burger that promised a nice thick patty, but it was unfortunately overcooked, slightly burnt, and dry. I had specifically asked for a bacon and cheese burger, but there was no cheese on it at all. The chips that came with the meal were also poorly prepared; they tasted somewhat undercooked, although they were nicely seasoned. The waffle seemed to be a frozen one that had simply been heated up, and the apple slices appeared to be straight from a can. Considering the name "Waffle Shack," I expected homemade waffles. Overall, my experience was quite unsatisfactory. Additionally, when we asked for a glass of red wine, we were told that only sweet red wine was available, with no options for a dry red.

I often dine at this restaurant for breakfast. The food is wonderful, and the portions are more than enough to satisfy your hunger.

Absolutely the best breakfast I've ever had! Don't bother with those mass-produced fast-food breakfast spots. If you find yourself in Piet Retief, make sure to stop by this place for an incredible meal!

The service here is consistently excellent, and it offers a wonderful environment for children to play.
