Fiddleheads Bar and Grill - Perth

It was a lovely night and luckily they had a table available for us outside. The waitress was super attentive to our family and never skipped a beat with our food order. The food was delicious and everyone left happy, and with teenagers that is not an easy feat. The surrounding area and park was quite picturesque and was perfect to walk around after dinner was complete. We stumbled on this place but had a delightful evening!

Had dinner with friends. I ordered the strip loin steak. Never order this again - a chunk of not tender, 3 "x3"meat arrived. Did not look like a strip loin at all - looked like a hunk of round roast - everyone at the table were surprised by its appearance - but it had to be what was ordered as it was the only steak offered on the menu so I didn't question it. I double checked California Strip Loin on the internet and nothing looked like my steak did. The highlight was the bacon mashed potatoes- they were excellent but the chef better change their meat selection to match people's expectations of strip loin

The food was good pub fare, the beer list was great but one aspect of customer service stood out. I walked out forgetting my jacket. Through some medication in a jacket pocket Lynne, a server, tracked me down by calling our pharmacy. I phoned Fiddleheads with my address and a week later the jacket arrived by mail, sent by Kyle, the manager.

We decided to take a nice weekend drive and ended up in Perth Ontario around lunch time. We did a search for local restaurants and decided to try FiddleHeads. It is located across the street from a park which made for a nice walk after lunch. It is a nice old stone building which has a courtyard located in the middle with a few small shops and this restaurant. We sat on the patio and decided to go with poutine and garlic bread for lunch. I know, not good for the diet. Their menu has a number of options at a reasonable price along with a good selection of alcohol. We are glad we chose to have lunch at FiddleHeads.

Perhaps we just picked the wrong night or perhaps we were tired, but our entire experience here was terrible. Firstly, it took over half a hour to get our order which was neither demanding or complicated. Secondly, there was a very loud wedding party deleting the middle of the dining room. They should been in a private room or at the very least, warned the other patrons about the wedding party. Thirdly, my specific choice tasted terrible. It consisted of half a chorizo sausage (not even sure it was because I love them and have had them often), one scallop, one shrimp on what tasted like canned black beans and canned corn mixed together to form the base. The mixture was tasteless. They also charged $15.95 for this. When our server came over and asked how it was, I told her that I didn't like it. She came back and offered to take off half the price! I had eaten one piece of chorizo, less then half the scallop and sampled the corn/bean mixture. I questioned why I would have to pay half and she went to the manager and had it removed from our bill. The entire meal from waiting half an hour for a hamburger, a chicken club and what I had was ridiculous to the wedding party that was so loud you couldn't talk over them to the quality of the food, which for what it was, was way over-priced. We won't be back, there are way too many good restaurants in the Perth area.
