Bidrage med feedbackGreat place for breakfast located on the main street in Midland.
The food was good, and the cozy little outdoor seating area was enjoyable. The jam served was outstanding. We ordered the breakfast with three eggs, bacon, and toast, and it was delicious.
We stopped at this restaurant after a lovely walk on the Tay Shore Trail. It was our first visit and we were thoroughly impressed. The restaurant is housed in an old home and has a very welcoming atmosphere.
JJ's no longer exists and has been replaced by the newly named Pig and the Pint Public House. Not a lot of change to the venue aside from the addition of the band area and some new, and uncomfortable seating. We made reservations for Sat night and found out the were much needed as the place was full (there were a lot of family on hand for the young man on stage singing - he did a great job and provided excellent background music during dinner). The menu is varied, the four of chose to share some appetizers- the pulled pork spring rolls were fantastic and the cauliflower crunches full of flavour when dipped in the lime aioli. The dry ribs were ok but nothing to take note of. We ordered our mains and decided to partake in the excellent beer choices while we waited. The restaurant was full but it seemed very understaffed and we waited at least an hour for our mains to arrive. While we weren't in a rush - it did seem a bit much for this style of restaurant - its not fine dining. Our mains arrived- I had the Big Boar burger- perfectly cooked and juicy and full of flavour, the rest of the group had the Meatloaf melt (ok- nothing spectacular), thePraise the Lard (full of flavour and my wife wouldn't share so it had to be good) and the Steak frites (steak was overdone but we didn't feel like waiting for another). Overall the restaurant has some great qualities and will continue to work through their issues (hopefully)- the staff needs some education (they don't know what beers they have on tap- we had to get up and got to the bar to read the selections) and as noted they need to work on their food delivery times. Will definitely try again in a few months to see if they have worked out the kinks.
We were there mid afternoon and there were about 15 people with one waitress who had trouble keeping up . The menu is definitely pub offerings with the emphasis on local craft beers . I had chicken burger and fries , hubby had fish and chips . The food was good , total cost with pop and one beer was approx $35. They need to spend time on cleaning , the floor looked filthy and littered with stuff. The ladies bathroom looks like it has never been renovated in years and years, fixtures plenty worn and even the toilet partitions looked liked somebody had smashed them to slivers . We won't go back .
