Bluegrass Bbq - Pembroke

My husband and I love discovering hidden gem BBQ joints, and this place was hands down the best BBQ we've ever had! It was the highlight of our vacation in Virginia and definitely made the 9-hour drive worth it. The food was seriously fantastic! Both the pulled pork and ribs were amazing, and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the chicken was—no kidding, it’s the best chicken I've ever tasted. The prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was charming, and the staff were incredibly friendly. What more could you ask for? We also tried frog legs on a whim, and I really enjoyed them. My husband kept saying that the beans were the best he's ever had—no exaggeration, and I completely agree!

You’ll definitely want to take some food home with you—I know I did! I spent the weekend in Pembroke, traveling from Fredericksburg, and I ended up bringing back 90% of my meal from Bluegrass. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the portion sizes are massive. If you’re looking for a warm and tasty snack, I highly recommend the hush puppies. The owners and chefs came out to greet us, and the wait staff was outstanding. Every time I visit, I plan to return to Bluegrass! You should do the same.

We enjoyed a barbecue pork and sausage combo that came with delicious fries and two side dishes. My husband ordered hush puppies and coleslaw, and the hush puppies were huge—bigger than a golf ball—and the best I've ever tasted. I opted for the fried catfish, hush puppies, and coleslaw. The catfish was perfectly cooked—light, flavorful, and not greasy at all. Overall, this is one of the best meals we've had when dining out. The drive to the restaurant was beautiful and peaceful. We will definitely be back!

Amazing food, affordable prices, lots meat on pork ribs. Beans were best and service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Wow! It's been years since I have been able to rave about the quality and value of good food. The most succulent and moist brisket I have EVER had. Pulled pork was perfect. Delicious sides. Friendly staff.I would drive 30 miles out of my way to come back. If you hike to Cascade Falls, RUN, do not walk, to Bluegrass BBQ!!!
