1492 New World Latin Cuisine - Midtown

Amazing service, amazing drinks, amazing food, amazing atmosphere. Love taking new people here, they always love it and I get to take credit!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My husband and I decided to try thia restaraunt tonight as date night after hearing wonderful things. We were not impressed though. It tool about 5 minutes for our server to ever come ask us what we wanted to drink. Once we placed that we also ordered queso. When we got the queso, it tasted like velveda warmed up and was not that warm either. Then it took forever for us to get our beverages that we ordered and our server to ever come back to take our order. We finally placed our order. Then we sat for 30 minutes with no food. The people next to us had ordered a few minutes before us, got their food, ate their food, paid their bill, and we still had nothing. We asked our server how much longer it would be and he said maybe 5 minutes. After 5 minutes we still had no food. We told our server we needed to get going to make a show we were going to see at 9:15, and we wanted to cancel our order, and pay for our appetizer and drinks. He took forever to get that too. Then he finally came out and magically our food was ready. We still had to get going to our show. So we declined the food and asked again foe the bill. Finally he came and gave us our bill. Now we are trying to race to make it to our show. This was not the date night experience my husband and I were looking for. I am very disappointed. And I am very disappointed in their alleged hommade queso that tastes exactly like velveda, I will never pay $8 for something I can make better at home, for cheaper.

Went last Wednesday before a Thunder game, we were seated in front of the bar area, the bartender was our waiter and he was way too busy to properly serve us. My food was very ordinary and I would have liked to discuss how brutally overcooked my food was, but my server was the bartender and he was too damned busy. I had been before and it was very good, but 2 1/2 years earlier.  It is simply not good.  Marginal food and service that was really lacking.  I left a very small tip and should have really left nothing.  Whatever ass-clown that is managing the restaurant should know to properly staff a restaurant. NEVER again and I will discourage anyone that mentions it.  Sad to see a place go so far down hill.

We love 1492! Make a reservation or go early. The food is fantastic. The queso is a must try! The 1492 swirl is really yummy and cheap during happy hour. We also really like the fajitas and the nachos. Great for date night.
