Bidrage med feedbackI had some of the best Jamaican food I've ever tasted at this restaurant. I opted for the Curry chicken, which was a nice change from my usual Jerk Chicken, and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was tender and fell right off the bone. The curry and spices were perfectly balanced, and I really enjoyed the cabbage salad and rice and peas. Without a doubt, I will definitely eat here again whenever I'm in the area!
We ordered the curry chicken and jerk pork. When we got home and opened the containers, we found that the jerk pork was mostly fat with very little actual meat. The flavor was excellent, but there just wasn't much to enjoy. The curry chicken was decent but lacked flavor. The portions of rice and beans were generous, and both dishes included cabbage and plantains. I did call the restaurant after discovering the issue with the jerk pork, but they hung up on me. I recommend checking your order before leaving this restaurant. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
If you know what good Jamaican food is supposed to taste like, this restaurant might not meet your expectations. The dishes lacked flavor, as if something essential was missing. I was surprised to find that the cabbage was served as plain, raw shredded cabbage with just a bit of carrot thrown in for color. The homemade lemonade reminded me more of store-bought Country Time than anything fresh. The oxtails were dry and lacking in meat. The jerk chicken seemed like it needed more care and time to perfect the recipe. Even the fries were just average; they were deep-fried with no seasoning or salt, although the table did have salt, pepper, and Lawry's seasoning salt available. My advice for the restaurant owner is to improve the quality of the food. For anyone thinking about dining here, I suggest lowering your expectations, and you might have a decent experience.
The imported drinks were intriguing and authentic—definitely worth sampling to discover what you prefer. The jerk chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, practically falling off the bone, complemented by a fantastic sauce that paired perfectly with the rice and beans. The mixed vegetables had a delightful slight sweetness to them. The jerk pork, while flavorful with its dry spice rub, was a bit dry but still tender. The curry goat was surprisingly excellent, although there were quite a few bones in the meat, requiring a fair bit of picking. All three dishes had a satisfying level of spiciness, and the portion sizes were quite generous.
We had an amazing experience at this restaurant, enjoying authentic Jamaican cuisine. I ordered the jerk chicken, while my wife chose the curry chicken. Whenever we travel, we love to seek out BBQ chicken and Jamaican food, and I can confidently say that this place is one of the best Jamaican restaurants we've discovered.
