Delicious food and an excellent variety of draft beers. The staff is friendly and provides great recommendations on what to try. This is one of my favorite bars in New Plymouth.

**Food:** Given that the restaurant is called Meat and Liquor, the menu offerings are to be expected. However, there is a decent selection of vegetables available as well. I ordered the 400g Angus beef steak, which was served simply with sauces—nothing else on the plate. The steak was entirely edible, with no gristle or fat. I requested it to be medium rare, but it came out medium; nonetheless, I found it enjoyable. My wife opted for the 300g lamb rump steak, which she also found quite tasty. As for the vegetables, we had green beans with goat curd and a dish of spinach with brie. The spinach was fantastic, while the green beans were decent, although I wasn’t a fan of the goat curd. After three substantial mains, we had no room left for dessert. **Service:** The service was excellent; our meals arrived promptly, and the staff checked in on us after serving. Our water glasses were consistently refilled, and all the waitresses were friendly. **Ambience:** The décor is pleasant and the atmosphere isn’t crowded or noisy, even with other diners around. The biggest drawback was the lack of air conditioning. While temperatures hovered around 28-30 degrees, which is fairly typical for New Plymouth, the two ceiling fans just weren’t enough. Despite wearing only a t-shirt, shorts, and sandals, I still felt overheated while seated beneath one of the fans.

The tacos could use a bit more seasoning to elevate them to greatness, but they were fresh, flavorful, and generously served. The service was outstanding.

GET THE LAMB! Blew me away. Would choose that as my last meal before I die. With Garlic Butter and Jus. Life is complete. Pretty serious portion sizes too. Great fries. Great service

Food here was great! Dessert was immaculate and rivals that of top restaurants in Auckland. Service was a good but could be a little better.
