Coast Guard House - NARRAGANSETT

My friends and I found the food and drinks to be superb.  The service was good.  We had the perfect table outside on the lower level, with unobstructed views of the water. We arrived at 5pm and there was no wait.

Disappointing brunch. **** Mary was small & tasteless except for horseradish - lime wedge & 2 olives were only garnish. Never recvd basket of bread although man next to us polished off 2 of them. Baked eggs were way underdone. Crab cakes had no pumpkin seeds, and were burned on one side. Won't go back.

My previous review, from 2012, was rather negative on this place but they seemed to have turned things around.  There is still a peculiar mix of upscale coastal seafood along with ultra-douchey Ganset-style 'nightclub' scene, so its very hard to know what you're walking into.  But our visit on a sunny Saturday, sitting on their sprawling deck with the waves crashing right below us, was just perfect.   Probably the best fried calamari I've had in ten years, so tender it melts in your mouth without a trace of rubberiness, and the spicy, freshly stuffed 'stuffies' were fantastic too.   I'm already looking forward to a return trip for dinner.
