Red's Bakery - Nanaimo

We stopped by this bakery, which appears fairly unremarkable from the outside. However, once you step inside, you’re welcomed by a warm and inviting ambiance that reminds you of your grandmother's house. They boast an impressive array of desserts, and best of all, they have our favorites: the peanut butter Nanaimo bar, Nanaimo bar cheesecake, and turtle bar. Now, it’s a staple destination for us whenever we’re on the island—a genuine one-stop shop that the kids just can’t get enough of!

I couldn't resist trying a Nanaimo bar during my visit to Nanaimo! I stopped by two other bakeries on the street to see which one had the best version, and Red's definitely won first place! Each layer was unique and perfectly balanced, with no single flavor overpowering the rest. They even offered to cut the bar into cubes for me!

The food was so amazing that I didn't even have time to take a photo before finishing it all! We ordered a Nanaimo bar and the raspberry blackberry cheesecake, and both desserts were unbelievably sweet and delightful. Additionally, the staff was exceptionally friendly!

We traveled from the mainland after hearing wonderful things about Reds, and it did not disappoint. The service was outstanding, and the dessert selection was impressive! We opted for the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake, which was absolutely delicious. The bakers clearly know what they're doing and are happy to let you sample before making your decision. The cheesecakes are quite generous in size, leaving us feeling pleasantly full. Additionally, they aren't overly sweet!

The staff here are extremely welcoming! While their pork sausage rolls might look like those from other stores, they are definitely in a league of their own! They are flavorful, with a surprising hint of spice that adds a delightful twist, distinguishing them from ordinary sausage rolls!
