Lighthouse Bistro Pub - Nanaimo

We where in Nanaimo dropping off our daughter for school, we noticed this spot and picked it for dinner.Just keep in mind you will get service and atmosphere of a regular pub nothing fancy. Bathrooms are very dirty , flies buzzing around the bar. If you are looking for a top notch culinary experience I would not recommend this place but if you want harbour view with drinks and feed yourself this is the place to go.

Probably best burger in town !! The Calamari is as tasty as Asteras Marinas !Awesome service and great view !

It has expensive food of mediocre quality and questionable portions. It seems to be a common theme in Nanaimo. You can't get a hamburger meal for under $14 or $15 (usually just a burger and fries) before taxes and a tip. So many places don't even bother to add a salad to liven things up.

Saturday Evening - poor atmosphere, loud banging from upstairs floor, terrible food, dirty washrooms. When the dirty washrooms were brought to management's attention they said those are the harbour's public restroom and that the ones upstairs were better. Why did they direct us to the public washrooms downstairs then? Probably the worst restaurant experience ever. On a positive note, Asteras Greek Taverna was excellent.

Took my daughter here for her birthday lunch. We both had chicken with brie sandwich. It was good but it wasn't great. Very busy but the service was still good. And the view was fabulous. For three of us including a few glasses of champagne, it was about $90., which seemed high to me for lunch, but there was the wine.The most negative thing is the washroom. They don't actually have their own washroom and share with the air terminal. It was dirty, messy - plugged toilet, full and overflowing trash. Very third world. When I told the Lighthouse hostess, she said that it didn't actually belong to them and they constantly had complaints. Someone at the Lighthouse management should deal with this.
