Saffron Indian Cuisine - Middletown

The 60. Chicken Tikka Saag and the 39. Malai Kofta excellent as always! and the 80. Bullet Naan was particularly great today! Amazing flavor of the chilis and incredibly fresh bread! Very accommodating when we asked for our meals to be prepared extra spicy too! Can't get enough of this place!!!

The butter chicken (57) was decent; the chicken itself was pretty good, but it could have used more seasoning and had too much oil. It definitely could have been better. However, the garlic naan (76) was excellent! The vegetable samosa (1) was good as well, but there's room for improvement overall.

I found that the Balti Gosht had overcooked lamb that was swimming in sauce, which overshadowed the flavor. The Garlic Naan was somewhat rubbery and lacked a strong garlic flavor. Additionally, the meat-to-rice ratio was disappointing; both lamb dishes I ordered had very little lamb considering the price. However, I did enjoy the lamb rice dish, as the lamb was well-cooked, not dry or tough, and nicely seasoned.

I found the food to be heavily spiced yet lacking in flavor, which was quite disappointing. My stomach felt unsettled for a full 24 hours after dining at Saffron. The 80. Bullet Naan offered nothing more than basic seasonings and red pepper flakes on a greasy naan, priced at nearly $7. In contrast, my 76. Garlic Naan, which was the same size, only cost $3, making it hard to understand the pricing. In fact, the 76. Garlic Naan was the only enjoyable part of the meal. I won’t be ordering from Saffron again.
