Morgan's Tavern At The Middlebury Inn

What a nice surprise! It was an Indian summer day, warmer and sunny, and we ate outside in the hotel porch. Wait staff was masqued and not overburdened. There is street noise, and some construction noise, but no different than any city restaurant might have. We both had the Morgan salad with Scottish Salmon, and it was a great big delicious lunch salad that was satisfying with thick bacon bits and crispy delicious salmon in an ample serving. Only downer was that they had no potatoes so they could not fill my order for clam chowder best to inform the wait staff ahead of time, rather than let your guests mouths start to water! Apparently the supply chain woes in the US are in middlebury too? The dessert was great, a new favorite. The caramel molten lava cake. Yum. And all was very reasonable in price. We will return

Lovely location. It has so much potential but was a let down. Original wait staff was so slow that another staff had to jump in to get our orders after nearly seated for min. Food was mediocre at best

The kitchen was out of several items, which was disappointing. The waitress was new so not perfect, but very nice

We have eaten at Morgan's Tavern both indoors (very pleasant) and outdoors (delightful). The majority of the outdoor seating area is covered so there is no need to worry about rain, but it is closed in the winter. The service was good both times. I tried the crispy chicken, which was excellent, and my husband had the crab cakes (just okay) and a very good burger on our last visit. Morgan's Tavern is a reliable and favorite dining option in Middlebury.
