Shelter Distiling - MAMMOTH LAKES

The food at this restaurant is delicious, but the service we received tonight was terrible. It was a busy night, but the staff seemed very impersonal. I understand the stresses of a dinner rush, but there is no excuse for rudeness. No one checked on us while delivering our food, and we were disappointed to find out that water couldn't even be ordered through their online system. When we asked an employee for something, they never returned to help us. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I don't think I will be returning if the service remains unchanged.

During our second visit, we decided to try some of their drinks and were impressed. The espresso martini was fantastic, and the old fashioned was good too. For dessert, we ordered the cake with ice cream, which was good (especially for vanilla lovers). In addition to the delicious food, the atmosphere at this restaurant is fantastic. Located right in town, they offer plenty of open-air seating where you can enjoy local music and do some people-watching. Overall, this place is very cool and definitely served the best food we had in Mammoth.

We had a great time with our family at this restaurant, enjoying live local music and delicious drinks. Located inside the Village next to an open plaza, the interior design and atmosphere were captivating. It was a cool place to relax, meet locals, have great conversations, and savor their amazing cocktails. We were all pleasantly surprised by how delicious the drinks were, from start to finish. We enjoyed them so much that we even ordered another round, considering taking a bottle to go.

I was pleasantly surprised by Shelter Distilling. We took the Gondola from Canyon Lodge after skiing when a friend suggested we come here. The drinks were excellent; we tried several of them and they were ALL good. My favorite was the Maple Whiskey Sour. It was excellent and so foamy on top. I will definitely order that again. The cheese curds were extremely tasty and so were the shishito peppers. I can't wait to try some of the other food choices. One of the best parts of the entire experience was being able to order on our phones and our drinks arrived within 3-5 minutes. This is key with groups of people. We ALL said we would definitely go back!

First time eating at Shelter Distilling, I ordered a Harrisa shrimp taco and a Caesar salad without croutons shown in the picture. My husband had a Spicy chicken taco. Very sorry to had missed taking pictures for the tacos. As for the Caesar salad, I love that they used mixed green with shaved Parmesan cheese on top instead of just plain romaine lettuce. They were DELICIOUS! Best tacos and salad I have ever had. It’s too bad that we are leaving early morning the next day or would love to try out other dishes at this joint. However this place has become my must eat restaurant at the Village in mammoth lakes. See you next time!
