Bidrage med feedbackThe restaurant has a charming rustic atmosphere with a Caribbean touch, typical of a resort town, which is reflected in the pricing. The flavors of the dishes were decent, though the pork skewer we ordered was quite dry. We also tried the pickled shrimp and octopus; while they had an acceptable flavor, the addition of eggs and oil was a bit off-putting. The Guava Glazed Ham was cooked very well, but it was overly sweet for our taste. The ground beef stew served with rice was intriguing, and the olives added a nice touch. However, we noticed that all the main dishes were heavy on rice and beans, with only a small portion of protein. The host seemed a bit taken aback when we declined to take beans home with us. While they are just beans, the Cuban Black Beans were rather bland.
The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, and I truly enjoyed the food and location. However, I do have one concern: they aren't pet-friendly, even in the outdoor area. It seems strange not to allow leashed pets, especially since the setting is ideal for that. We had to take our dogs with us and ended up opting for takeout instead of soaking in the ambiance and ordering more drinks to enhance our evening. While I loved everything else, this policy might deter me from returning in the future.
During your road trip, there are those unforgettable experiences when everything aligns perfectly: the food, the atmosphere, the location, and an incredible owner who is fully dedicated to ensuring that every guest leaves with a smile. The ranch setting, just minutes from town, is truly remarkable. Thank you, Dos Alas! The space is cozy, so it's a good idea to make a reservation to guarantee your spot.
What a amazing place! The best Cuban food you will ever have. Only thing is that’s it’s small and you need to make a reservation days in advance.
Good for you, you found me! They call that a win-win ?Remember the last time you wished you could be in two places at the same time?Score! So you 're in Mammoth Lakes for skiing or hiking, but the Caribbean Islands and their culture are calling you…big time?Especially their food! And you say to yourself, "No way Mammoth has any decent fried tostones, Maduros, sweet plantains, yuca al Mojo in garlic sauce, rice with red or black beans, pork and steak, or that infamous 'Cubano sando ', coconut bread pudding, or best of all…that sweet and silky Flan, just no way "You 'd be sooo, so wrong…follow me!Just walk through that inconspicuous door, and you 'll immediately be blown away…And transported…(you pick your island)The colors, the sound, (as in live music), the aromas, the energy, and all the conversation and laughter around you. That 's what good food does, it excites and even elevates you while you create 'core memories ' with your loved-ones joining you, and in here…they 'll be darn good memories for sure! Loud and colorful ones even!!The flavors are incredible, the building and its history will take you away, the menu is Cuban/Puerto Rican, and so, so traditional, (your own tia ' would approve), the recipes go back generations, the service…just like family is joining you for dinner. And how about that location huh...and that one of a kind view!Seating is available inside and outside…It is Mammoth right?!My daughter and I came here 3 times during our stay. Our servers ultimately called us by name, and we were even introduced to the owners. Just lovely! My money is on you doing the same thing!Highly recommend this very special and unique establishment!
