Bidrage med feedbackThis is a pub that we have visited countless times as a family since childhood being from Maitland and our visit back to the area and this hotel today was unfortunately so disappointing. We chose to have a family lunch here after laying our Father's ashes in a nearby cemetery. Obviously a very emotional and difficult day. Most importantly, we brought along a bottle of our Father's favourite red wine - Bull's Blood - a wine that has a lot of history for our family and also my partner's (who happens to make the wine). When I asked if we could open the bottle for this very special occasion, the owner told me quite abruptly - "no - our license doesn't allow that". Well we are in the industry & know that's not the case (BYO with corkage fee?) and we have taken wine to this pub on so many occasions in the past. We found this incredibly insensitive, especially after relaying the story of why it was so important for us to share this bottle as we remembered our Father on this day. The experience worsened from here. Our food came to our table & the quality of what we were served was so disappointing. My 10 year old son's chicken nuggets were actually served in a box that compared with something we would get in a McDonald's drive thru happy meal - my 80 year old mother then went to the staff to ask for a proper china plate but was told that all children's meals are served that way! Not only was it a ridiculous way to serve food at a table, but is there any consideration for the planet and the amount of unnecessary packaging that is being used & the waste??Our meals were less than average & if you are Vegan, eat before. Tough poor quality rump steak was also hardly edible. Country towns have limited dining opportunities and it's sad that the locals and othea visiting the area can't be offered better than this.At the end of the day, as a family we're just very disappointed that we chose this hotel for a lunch to remember our Father who loved the town and gave so much of his time for the community. There wasn't a hint of compassion or basic hospitality during a difficult time.
Every month or so we drive 80km. to have lunch at this pub. The staff are relaxed and friendly and give good service, the meals are always excellent and the salad bar is probably the best on Yorke Peninsula. The meals are just the usual pub fare but always really well cooked and presented. We particularly like the fish, but if you're especially hungry order the mixed grill! Prices are very reasonable.
Came here on the off chance for lunch, pleasantly surprised at very nice menu choices, half size serves (eg schnitzel) and inventive sauces. Service a bit gruff on arrival, which was a but off-putting, but good very nice. Would go again if we holiday in this part if the world again.
I have eaten at this pub for years and it never fails to impress. There is always a huge range of salads available. The food is always fresh. Meals come out quickly- and the staff never muck up orders. Topped off with great staff. It is a total credit to owners Martha and Steve. There is also a small playground in the secure area at the rear of the dining room.
We recently moved to Maitland, and tried the meals at the Yorke Valley Hotel, as I have Coeliac Disease, which means all my meals have to be Gluten FREE, I was totally amazed at all the Gluten Free, meals that are available,. The meals at the Yorke Valley Hotels are absolutely fantastic, and the staff are excellent especially Sharon, I really love the salads that are available, we always enjoy going to the Yorke Valley Hotel, it is a very friendly atmosphere, so when you come to Maitland, stop into the Yorke Valley Hotel and try the meals for yourself you won't be disappointed. from Shane & Lynn
