Churrasqueira O Convite - Maia

We ate here for our last meal in Porto, hoping and expecting the same fantastic mouth watering food we experienced all over Portugal. Not happening in Convite. This was absolutely the worst fish dinner I ever had in memory. My so called grilled Cod was literally some overcooked dried hunks of meat stuck to a bone, and my wife 's was basically fried and swimming in oil, covered in soggy Ruffles potato chips. What a gastronomic nightmare. And expensive. We would have been better served picking up some Snickers at the airport. Save your money and don 't eat the fish. The only saving grace was the friendly waiter and good wine.

On our last eve in Portugal we topped off a great time with finner at this restaurant. It was charming with mural of Portuguese history and agriculture on the walls and the food was outstanding. Our waiter was so attentive and we can see why this place is a favorite with the locals.

The food you'll find here is very tasty and a joy for both tourists and locals. Even if it isn't cheap, you won't be disappointed.

This place is not to be missed if you are staying near the Porto airport. I flew in and out of Porto Portugal, on both ends of a 3 week stay in Vigo Spain. I stayed in 2 different hotels that I could walk to and from the airport and took the metro into the city center. The first hotel recommended that I check out local restaurants on the main street of the surrounding area. The first night I ate at the O Convite . It was one of the best meals I 've ever had. The atmosphere is local, the place is immaculate, the food is fresh, well presented and the small portions were more than I could eat. The service was outstanding and the prices were more than reasonable. Although I had the opportunity to have dinner in central Porto (the metro system is incredibly good), I chose to have dinner at the O Convite again before my outbound flight home. It was a good decision. Yummmmm!!!!!!

Excellent option if you have a couple of hours between flights in the sa Carneiro airport. It is located at about 15m walking and it well deserves a visit I went there with my girlfriend and were quite impressive for the quality and price (and surely quantity, don't forget... Half dose is more than enough for one person). Plus it offers an excellent variety of Portuguese (obviously specially from the northern part) variety of dishes Friendly and quick service Highly recommended
