Bidrage med feedbackI had no idea this place existed!! It's the perfect place for people who want to do outdoorsy/naturesque things but not be completely on their own/be in a somewhat contained area. We came on a Saturday afternoon it wasn't too packed but there were definitely people around. Beautiful location and area. There is a forest preserve/fishing around the area before you enter The Forge as well as free entrance into the Forge area if you want to just walk around, you only need to pay for the pass to do the activities. Lots of foliage, water, and parking around the area and leading up to the entrance of the forge. There are a ton of things to do that are included in the pass you pay for: laser tag, archery, paddleboat/kayak, biking, scavenger hunt, kids obstacle course, dino karts and more. They also have a large performance space that looks like they use for concerts and festivals. They have a small restaurant with tables facing the water, corn hole games and bonfire options. Defintely had an enjoyable day in a place I had no idea existed. At first, I thought the prices to be a little high, but considering axe throwing (typically $30 40 alone), laser tag, boating activities, biking, scavenger hunt, etc. are included, it actually seems worth it. Would love to come back in the fall to try the activities while seeing the colors change in the trees.
It's like summer camp for all ages!My sis and I got Explorer Day Passes via a Yelp event. My sis said it felt like a throw back to our jr high days. We canoed, threw axes, and tried archery. It def felt like our jr high P.E. and outdoor ed trip!I use a power wheelchair. Ever since I heard they have adaptive zip line access I can try from a friend, I wanted to come try it here. I'm glad I emailed them ahead of time, as they will not have the adaptive zip lining up this year. When it is back up they will update their website. They do have adaptive kayaks and canoes. I needed to fill out a short google form with ETA so they had things set up for my arrival, which I wouldn't have known if I didn't email them. I emailed with Katie and Ariel was the manager who got my canoe ready with the adaptive seat. All staff were nice.I was impressed with the adaptive seat. It had a high back and side/lateral supports, so I didn't fall to the side. It could only go in a single kayak or double canoe, so we used a canoe with me sitting in the front and my sis in the back. They also had an adaptive paddle. I've kayaked before, but always had to use my wheelchair's backrest in the kayak so I could sit up by myself. Never seen an adaptive seat like this before. As Katie said, the Archery Range is accessible however the path to get there is mulch and not crushed limestone. The path to the paddle sports (kayak/canoe) had crushed limestone and ramps. Kiddie activity area/bar also had crushed limestone. My power wheelchair was ok on all paths: limestone, mulch, dirt/grass and gravel; but it wasn't rainy either. The axe throwing was in shipping containers on wheels with steps, so I couldn't go inside. But I was able to see my sis try it from outside; she had a blast!Only complaint was there was a long wait at the Archery Range. A lot of groups/kids were there and no time limits. I also kept getting bitten by flies while waiting at the Archery Range, near the trash can.It was fun. Didn't try everything with our pass. Def wanna try adaptive zip line!
Adventure awaits! This was definitely a fun experience. There are a lot of different activities to choose from and most activities didn't have a wait. The map guide they provide makes the park look much bigger than it is. The activities aren't too far of a walk from one another. The 3 ventures I was most excited for was rock climbing, archery, and battle axe throwing. I finally got to shoot a bow arrow and I can't wait to do it again! Unfortunately, rock climbing ends at 5pm and the slots were completely filled. The battle axe throwing was pretty cool but the axe's were mini. Good for a 1st timer like myself. I enjoyed kayaking, but I preferred the pedal boat. There was only one pedal boat that wasn't broken and it was already in use. I didn't get to try the food drinks but the do have options on site. You're not able to drink until you're done with all activities. I definitely think that's a smart business decision for safety purposes. The staff was really nice and helpful, but they seemed a bit overworked/understaffed. All in all I would definitely visit again, but with children next go round. Adults can definitely find fun activities here, but I feel the prime age for most activities is 6 -18 yrs old. I saw a family throwing their daughters 6th birthday party and I know they're getting the best mom/dad award lol. This is a great place to visit to get out the house, get a little exercise, enjoy fresh air, and have some fun.
It was a decent day to be outside, parking was a little tough when getting there initially at around 2:00 p.m. we did notice that some of the adventure themes didn't qualify under this pass and one of the zip lines was down and another adventure was also not available. Had to wait a little bit longer than I anticipated. Pricing in general is a little bit on the high side but that's we do expect with a theme park. Definitely a good vibe in here, people having fun and laughing, seem like there were a lot of families there. I would definitely give this place another try maybe during the week when it's not so busy or off peak season after Labor day.
Had an amazing time today with my girls and am beyond grateful for being Elite and being introduced to this gem. Great weather today and we had a great time climbing around, bouncing, walking, hiking, exploring and resting in between for some hotdogs and chips care of the Foundry. Would love to come back in the Fall when it is slightly cooler and seeing all of the trees leaves changing their colors. Can't wait to come back.
