The chicken wings were extremely dry and tough, making them nearly inedible. I could have gone to Walmart and bought frozen wings and mac and cheese for a much cheaper price, and it would have tasted much better. Save your time and money; this is not the place to get soul food. The cornbread was also dry and hard, and the collard greens were the worst I've ever had. The potato salad had an unpleasant aftertaste, and the mac and cheese was dry, lacking any sauce – just unmelted cheese on top, with hardly any seasoning. The chicken tenders and whiting were equally dry and tough. The meatloaf was worse than what you’d find in a cafeteria, tasting inferior to a typical frozen banquet meal. I really don’t understand how this place has a 4.6-star rating. This is honestly the worst food I have ever experienced at a restaurant. I also noticed several microwaves in the kitchen, which doesn't inspire confidence.

I enjoyed the food at this restaurant, particularly the sweet potato pie, pork chops, potato salad, and ribs. The service was friendly, which is a plus. I want to support the business since it's black-owned and located in my neighborhood. However, I would give it a higher rating if the chicken didn't sometimes taste reheated and if the whiting was consistently fresh. The portions for the sides are on the smaller side, and the prices are a bit high. Additionally, they often seem to close when they should be open, which has led me to visit another soul food spot a bit farther away that has more reliable hours and better prices. Overall, the food and service are good, but there are inconsistencies and it can be pricey.

The food was fantastic! The portions were generous as well. I really enjoyed the collard greens, shrimp, mac and cheese, and the fried fish. The white cake with cream cheese was a standout— it just melts in your mouth! The only dish I didn't care for was the chicken wings; they were a bit too salty for my taste, but I’m sure others might enjoy them. Overall, my family and I will definitely be ordering from here again soon. I'm excited to try more dishes!
