Bistrot Whale'come - LAJES DO PICO

Have been there for dinner, food (starters, fish of the day, meat of the day) was good with a little more innovation (herbs, presentation) compared to other restaurants on the Azores. Price for food for two persons about € 35. The service was ok but not well informed (waiter told us fish of the day can be ordered grilled, when we ordered it grilled waitress told us is not possible, can be ordered only fried as in the menu offered), after finishing food had too wait pretty long till table got cleared (waitress passed several times with empty hands). After food we ordered coffee (was the worst we had in these holidays) and the bill. Very little glasses of wine for 3€ is overpriced in my opinion. Ok, but that’s it.

Cozy and with good suggestions. The staff is friendly. Food suggestion is good, not so fresh as I was hopping for the price. Maybe a tourists fault. Nice environmental conscience. Amazing place, ok food

After whole day on foot we wanted an excellent restaurant. This one looks like something extra, but it was slightly above average. Appetizer, the local cheese was very good , carrot soup the same. But the main course fish od the day and beef... The fish was good, normal, nothing to write home about. But the beef was horrible chewy, solid, not well cooked, We were disappointed. Pokud čekáte něco extra doporučujeme jinou restauraci, pokud se spokojite s průměrem, chybu zde neuděláte.

This restaurant, connected to the Espaco Talassa whale watching tours, is a good choice when you’re in Lajes. It has outdoor seats with harbour views, indoors there are no views as the restaurant is a few steps down from street level. It’s a cozy place with plenty of choice (meat, fish, one vegetarian option) and many local options, but it does seem to cater mainly to tourists. The portion sizes are large and the quality of the food good. Nothing too extraordinary or inventive but tasty and decent food.
