Hatten einen perfekten Abend zu 10 im Gasthaus Jell. In der lauschigen und gemütlichen Laube genossen wir das Ambiente. Perfektes Service mit viel Charme und Witz! Unbedingt das Gedeck dazu bestellen! Auch die Hauptspeisen von Cordon Bleu bis Hirn mit Ei schmeckte uns sehr gut! Zur Nachspeise Malakofnockerl ein Gedicht! Weinauswahl auch ansprechend, wir hatten ein Flascherl vom Knoll Ein feiner Abschluss des Wochenendes in der Wachau! Danke

We happened to stop in Krems on our way to a holiday in the region and as we were walking around this gorgeous old city, we spotted this place and decided to stop for lunch. It's a guesthouse and restaurant that has operated since 1895 or something like that. It's housed in a gorgeous building couple of streets over from the shopping street. If you don't detour from the Main Street in town you won't find this place. They serve traditional Austrian food and the menu is quite extensive. They also had a daily card and as it was end of Spargel season, a couple of dishes with asparagus. They also have about a dozen wines from the area by the glass besides other drink choices. We sat in the outdoor area and it's quite nice. Staff were very friendly and quick to serve us when we were seated. I had a roasted wagyu steak which was served on a bed of white and green asparagus and spinach purée and horseradish foam. It was simply delectable and the flavour was amazing. I licked my plate clean. I also had a cream slice for dessert which has been made using the same recipe for the last 60 years at this place and it was also amazing. I tasted the crumbed mushrooms and this is very unique and seasonal dish in Austria and it was excellent. Happily come here again anytime. Great food, good service and not over priced. This is good honest Austrian cooking with high quality ingredients.
